River Tamiš

Tamiš is a plains river. Her total length is 359 km, of which 241 km of its course in Romania and 118 km in Serbia. It originates in the northern part of the Romanian Carpathians, going through the whole Banat and empties into the Danube.

Tamiš and its surroundings are a popular picnic destination for the residents of the Kovačica municipality. From the first days of spring through the early autumn Tamiš coast is full of hikers, campers and fishermen. Fishermen on Tamiš river usually hunt carp, catfish, white fish, pike and perch. The part of Tamiš that flows around the town of Idvor is an ideal place for fishermen, regardless of whether you want to fish in a regulated area's coast or on the water. Specific rules about which fis an or cannot be fished out is regulated by the rules of fishing seasons - there are fishing seasons for a certain types of fish. Carp fishing season lasts from 01.06. to 30.03.,  season for catfish is 16.06. to 30.05., and for the pike 01.04. to 30.09.
