House of Martin Jonaš
Martin Jonaš is one of the most important representatives of Kovačica naive art.
He begun painting in his twenties, and during the next half century he participated in more than three hundred individual and joint exhibitions in fifty countries all around the world. Thanks to his constant work and his strong imagination he created his own artistic expression, which is now easily recognizable everywhere.
One of the main motifs of his paintings is a man from the countryside, working, whom he presented in somewhat grotesque way - with huge limbs and a diminished head. Such a man lives on the fertile land he inhabits and to which he's linked with inseparable natural threads. He depends on land's laws and temperament, and life on it is the eternal struggle for survival.
